I would say: install PowerShell, PowerGUI, and all the cmdlets (AD cmdlets, VI Toolkit) on your desktop which has VI Client.

ok,i got the powershell on a difference server now(let callit server-powershell). Would it be a good idea to install the powergui on the same server as the one that is hosting the powershell? Also, since the powergui is going to be install on a difference server, does it do some kind of registration to the virtualcenter (call it server-vc) during the install so the plugin option get register? and my local workstation vi client know that it is available and where to d/l it from?

Dominic,

That's a fair question. And the answer is NO, they all can work with VC remotely, and you can put them on any Windows box in your network.

Dumb question, but MUST the VI PowerShell, powerGUI, amdlet, and all of its other file be install on the same server as my virtualcenter? Or can they get install on a separate server. Just trying not to install anything on my VC server unless it is 100% necessary

Schorschi,

No need to reinstall. Just delete the Quest.PowerGUI.VMware.Config.xml file in the PowerGUI profile folder ("C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Quest Software\PowerGUI" on XP/2003 and "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Quest Software\PowerGUI" on Vista/2008).

I seemed to have deleted the connection object? Under the VMware powerpack I imported. I deleted the powerpack, and reimported, but I still see 0 entries under the connect UI filter view. Any suggestions on how to force re-install of the powerpack or other steps to fix the issue?
